Virtual TV Writing Workshops led by Darcy Fowler
****Winter/SPRING 2025 SESSIONS POSTED BELOW****
Over the years, I've optioned and sold a multitude of shows, and nearly every one faced roadblocks in their infancy. Executives claiming they wouldn't sell, representatives urging me to focus on more conventional ideas. But I quickly learned that if a story sparks a profound passion in me, keeps me awake at night, and quickens my heartbeat, then I would be doing myself an immense disservice by not bringing that idea to fruition. Because the only person who truly knows my story’s viability is me.

So many of the shows we celebrate, the ones that thrive, are the antithesis of the corporate bottom line. They display raw emotion and heart, like Baby Reindeer, The Bear, Bojack Horseman or I May Destroy You. They possess an incomparable creative signature like Severance, Atlanta.
These shows are brought to life by artists with distinct voices and singular visions. Artists who also understand story structure and how to create the engine of their series. That's why I've developed a workshop focused on honing in on your distinct voice as a series creator, developing your story from a place of joy, and acquiring the essential tools that will make your TV pilot and series stand-out in the current market.
I am offering Zoom workshops where we will:

-
Hone in on what you love about storytelling, drawing from your experiences, passions, and inspirations to find your story engine, pilot, and series.
-
Craft compelling characters, discover their voices through writing exercises, and use their desires to break the structure of your pilot.
-
Familiarize you with the Story Circle, an invaluable instrument to help you map out the structure of your pilot.
-
Learn essentials for developing your series arc and effectively pitching your concept.
-
There are take home assignments between each week's class and as well as feedback between classes. I am passionate about making sure everyone gets the individual attention they need and leave the workshop having completed its objectives (see below)
Class Objectives:
By the workshop’s end, you'll possess a clear series engine, in-depth character guides, the spine of your pilot outline, sample script pages, and the foundation of a pitch document.
